Robert C. Martin
Robert C. Martin died of natural causes on the evening of May 6, 2020, at the VA Medical Center in Helena, Montana. He was born on April 21, 1949. Bob was raised in Laurel, Montana by his mother Donna Martin and his adopted father. Bob overcame hardships in his youth to become a successful high school athlete in football, track, basketball, and wrestling. Following high school graduation in 1967, Bob attended Montana State University. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1969, serving on an ammunition supply ship in Vietnam and later as a navigator on a submarine.
Bob worked a variety of jobs over the next 30 years. He attended disc jockey school and worked at a number of radio stations in Billings and Missoula. He attended the University of Montana, graduating with a degree in coaching and coached several youth sports teams. He started a successful business as a vendor at “out to lunch” and farmers markets in Missoula and Billings. Bob struggled with life the past year, but, has found peace, at last.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Tanous (Larry) and sister, Jean Sandoval.
He is survived by sister, Roxie Poser in San Diego. He will be buried in the Joliet, Montana, cemetery next to his maternal grandparents in a graveside service Wednesday, May 20 at 3:30 p.m.
